Dunoon and the Isle of Bute

We have a morning departure heading North to Guorock to catch a ferry across the Clyde to Dunoon; this is a picturesque sail where you can sit back and enjoy the views. We carry on to the hotel where you will be welcomed by the friendly hotel staff. We can then relax over dinner and enjoy the spectacular views from the sunlounge and ballroom.

Today is a free day to enjoy Dunoon. You can take in the fantastic scenery and sights of this beautiful Island. Dunoon is the main resort on the beautiful Cowal Peninsula and the maritime gateway to the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park.

Today we travel to Inverarary and pass by the Kneeling Bishop, Stracchure House, Black Cairn, Loch Fynne Oysters and Dunderave Castle on the way to the beautiful white washed town Inveraray. You could visit the home of the Duke and Duchess of Argyll, Inveraray Castle, or why not take a step back in time and visit the town’s famous jail, the Bell Tower or why not take a wonder around the little shops that the town has to offer.

After breakfast we make our way to Colintraive to catch the Wee Ferry to the lovely Isle of Bute.We travel along the splendid North Eastern Coastal road where we can see the Kyles of Bute before we arrive in Rothesay. Why not visit Rothesay Castle, a ruined castle which dates back to the 13th century, and which is unique in Scotland for its circular plan.

Today after breakfast we have a delightful half day excursion to Benmore Botanical Gardens. The Gardens set in 120 acres boast a world famous collection of flowering trees and shrubs. We return to the hotel in plenty of time before dinner this evening.

After a leisurely breakfast we leave The Esplanade hotel and make our way back home. You will be provided with a packed lunch for your journey, so sit back, relax and enjoy the ride with fond memories of your holiday.
