After a delicious Welsh breakfast we travel to Hay-on –Wye, known worldwide as the ‘Town of Books’ with more than 30 bookshops. Enjoy a stroll along the banks of the River Wye then wander in the maze of narrow ancient streets packed with a variety of craft shops, antique shops, galleries and tea rooms. We depart Hay and take a short ride to Brecon to board our narrow boat for a two and half hour canal cruise on the Brecon and Monmouthshire canal. Enjoy a commentary explaining 200 years of history whilst enjoying the suberb views of the Brecon Mountains high above the River Usk.  In the afternoon we visit the impressive Brecon Cathedral.

Today we head to the seaside town of Aberystwyth. There is free time to enjoy a stroll on the pier and promenade. After lunch (not included) we board the Vale of Rheidol narrow gauge steam railway as it climbs the 12 miles through the scenic Rheidol Valley to the beauty spot of Devils Bridge, deep in the Cambrian Mountains, home to the Mynach Falls and the Devils Punch Bowl. We return to the hotel directly from Devils Bridge.

Today we visit the famous Elan Valley to view the amazing Victorian Dams which form five man made lakes and a 73 mile wide wildlife park, there’s a short stop at the visitor centre before we take a circular scenic drive to see the spectacular views. This afternoon we visit the Hall at Abbey-Cwm-Hir, one of the finest examples of Victorian gothic revival architecture in Wales, where we have our lunch (included). We have a tour of the 52 rooms (no shoes, please walk in your socks or slippers) and afterwards you can explore 12 acres of beautiful gardens, lawns, terraces and waterfalls.

After a hearty Welsh breakfast we bid farewell to Wales and make our way back to the North West stopping en route for comfort stops and lunch (not included). Taxis will be waiting to take you back to your front door.
