Our History

In 1972 R. S. Tyrer & Son was established in Adlington by Bob Tyrer. Bob had been a coach driver for over 30 years and started his own business at the age of 58, with one vehicle. This was a Bedford, with a Leyland engine, on a Plaxton body. Over the years his fleet expanded to 5 vehicles before he passed away in November 1992. His daughter Sylvia and husband Gordon carried on the business and now with the help of their son Richard, has transformed the firm into the reliable, successful coaching business that it is today, known as Tyrers Coaches.

Our main booking office is still based in Adlington at 168 Chorley Road, however due to expansion of the fleet, the garage has moved to Cowling Brow in Chorley where it now operates 27 vehicles.
