Top 5 Coach Holidays – Book now!

Coach holidays are well and truly on the rise. It isn’t a secret that most travel companies bump up their prices to inconvenience those bound to term-time restrictions. They see this as an opportunity to maximise profits, and offer little flexibility in the summer and winter months. Consequently we’ve seen the rise of the ‘staycation’ – residents of the UK are increasingly staying in Blighty for their holidays.

But surely there is nothing worse than having to drive around the UK for your holiday? Tired, stiff, and unable to enjoy yourself knowing that you need to do it all again on the journey back. That’s why, at Tyrers Coaches, we do all the journeying for you. Our aim is to show you more for less.

Therefore, we’ve put together this guide of our top 5 coach holidays for 2019, to demonstrate our commitment to affordable and accessible tourism.

1. Drymen and Stirling for Burns Night, January

Surprise a loved one for Christmas with one of our extremely popular coach holiday tours (for good reason!): Scotland’s most celebrated night of the year, Burns Night. Once aboard one of our luxury coaches, your first stop will be at Winnock Hotel in Drymen – a former 18th century coaching inn, and a favourite of our customers.

All three nights are spent here. However, on the Friday 18th January, you will set off to see the legendary Kelpies of Celtic folklore. Here you can view the majestic piece of Scottish lore and the accompanied Visitor Centre before returning to Drymen for Robert Burns dinner and celebrations.

The Saturday will consist of a visit to Stirling, home to historic attractions and a medieval old town. It is said that “he who holds Stirling, holds Scotland” and, with its beauty, it’s easy to understand why. On Sunday, we head home after a traditional Scottish breakfast and full of happy memories.

2. Newcastle weekend, 26th-28th April

The jewel of the North and local to artefacts from Roman rule that include Hadrian’s Wall, our Newcastle weekend break provides travellers with the comfort of the Copthorne Hotel, next to the beautiful Quayside.

Both nights you will be treated to a luxurious dinner served within the hotel. You will be given the opportunity to explore the bars and restaurants that have made Newcastle one of Britain’s favourite choices for UK nightlife.

On the Sunday we will depart after a hearty breakfast with a brief stop in Leeds. You can enjoy some light shopping and visit the Yorkshire city before arriving home for teatime.

3. Shetland and Orkney Islands, 27th May-2nd June

Where the North Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean, and the UK reveals its Scandinavian and Celtic roots, lies the Shetland and Orkney Isles. Starting with an overnight stay in Pitlochry, our journey begins with a drive through the mesmerising Cairngorm National Park. We will then arrive in Thurso for a complimentary dinner and stay at the Royal Hotel.

Customers can enjoy sightseeing in Thurso before crossing north to the otherworldly Orkney Isles – complete with a tour through the World Heritage sites of Skara Brae, Stones of Stenness, Italian Chapel and others. The Orkney trip ends in Kirkwell, where dinner is provided, and our guests board an overnight ferry to Shetland.

Once there, we arrive in Lerwick and discover the Jarlshof Prehistoric and Norse Settlement. The afternoon is spent visiting Scalloway Castle and Museum, and we end boarding the overnight ferry to Aberdeen where we return home the following day.

4. Bournemouth week, 11th-16th August

Feel like royalty with our 5-night stay at the Mayfair Hotel in Bournemouth, a coach holiday down south like no other. You’ll enjoy two free days in the gorgeous coastal resort town and a dinner every evening.

Your first two days are yours to explore! This gives you the opportunity to bask in the summer sun on the beaches or alternatively treat yourself to a pier to pier walk with some retail therapy in between.

Wednesday you will find yourself in one of the world’s largest harbours in Poole, journeying to the Isle of Purbeck and returning to Bournemouth via the Sandbanks Ferry. Lastly, you will spend a full day touring the New Forest Area of Natural Beauty on Thursday – a place truly reminiscent of Narnia (without the talking animals!).

5. Killarney and Ring of Kerry, 16th-21st September

This extravagant coach holiday around Ireland begins at Holyhead, transporting guests west to Dublin via ferry. Once there, we make our way to Arklow Bay Hotel for dinner, bed and breakfast. As the day dawns we travel to Killarney and the Gleneagle Hotel, our base for the next three nights.

On the way we will be stopping at Ireland’s hidden secret, Cork. Located on an island in the middle of the River Lee, it offers visitors an alternative vibrancy to Dublin’s hustle and bustle.

After a day aboard a Jaunting Car into the National Park and a tour around Ross Castle for a lake sail, you will visit the Ring of Kerry. Continuing through Cahersiveen, Waterville and Sneem we round our tour off with a stop at Killarney National Park and a final day in Dublin before heading home.

Whether you’re looking for an unforgettable Christmas present or inspiration for your next vacation, our luxury coach holidays make the perfect gift. From Ireland to Wales, we’ve plenty of tours, day trips, shows and breaks available. Enjoy your next hassle-free holiday by simply enquiring about a trip, and we’ll take care of the rest.
