Sandown Bay is the largest on the Island and offers a long safe, sandy beach framed at each end by stunning white cliffs contrasting the blue sea.

After our door to door service collects you from home we have an early morning departure that sees us travelling south to Southampton arriving in time to join the late afternoon ferry to Cowes. We then make our way to the Queensmead Hotel, Shanklin, arriving in time for dinner. 

Itinerary for Sunday to Friday will include:

  • A full day excursion today as we have a scenic drive to Alum Bay famous for its coloured sands and view of the famous Needles. We return to Shanklin via the pretty resort of Yarmouth.
  • A morning jaunt to the picture postcard village of Godshill with its quaint thatched cottages. Afternoon at+ leisure in Shanklin with a chance to visit the Chine and Old Village. Be back in time for your evening meal.
  • A morning visit to the seaside town of Ryde with its pier, sandy beaches and Victorian houses. After lunch (not included) we head to Cowes at the mouth of the River Medina with its many sailing boats and yacht clubs. We are back to the Queensmead in time for dinner.
  • A morning visit to Newport, the islands capital, for the local market. In the afternoon there will be a visit to Osborne House, Queen Victorias favourite retreat. It is here she was alleged to say “It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot.”
  • 2 days at leisure in Shanklin; be sure to make your way back to the hotel in time for dinner.


Enjoy a hearty English breakfast before we say goodbye to Queensmead, leaving with fond memories of our holiday on the Isle of Wight. On arrival in local areas taxis will be waiting to take you to your front door.


This Victorian hotel provides friendly, family-run hospitality. All rooms are en-suite with TV and tea/coffee making facilities. There is an enclosed heated outdoor swimming pool, with patio for sunbathing or to enjoy a morning coffee or afternoon tea. The period style dining room provides a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy home cooked food. After a day exploring the island you can relax in the spacious bar lounge that overlooks the pretty colourful gardens. Entertainment will be provided on several evenings. Dinner is included each evening offering a choice of home cooked food and of course a full English breakfast is served every morning. Please note the hotel has no lift.
