After our door to door collection you board the coach and we commence our journey North. We have comfort stops en route and arrive at the Peebles Hydro Hotel to a welcoming cup of tea or coffee! Once settled in your room you then have free time before dinner to explore this wonderful hotel, maybe use the leisure facilities and have a swim or even just relax in the Sunroom with a gin and tonic.

Today after breakfast we have a visit to the historic town of Jedburgh; time is given here so you can see some of the attractions on offer such as the Mary Queen of Scots Visitor Centre or have a look in some of the local shops. We then continue on to Abbotsford The Home of Sir Walter Scot and one of Scotland’s most fascinating places. Created almost 200 years ago, Abbotsford was the culmination of Scott’s creative ambitions as a writer and the fount of his inspiration. We explore the historic house (entrance included) which holds a treasure trove of intriguing objects and unusual artefacts that inspired Scott’s greatest poems and novels. We return to the hotel in time for dinner.

After our breakfast we head to the stunning capital of Scotland, Edinburgh, and you have some free time here to explore the many sights Edinburgh has to offer. We then re join the coach which will take us to Waverly train station where we complete the day with a one hour scenic train journey to Tweedbank on the Borders Railway, taking us through former mining towns, wide open farmland and the lush valleys that the Borders are famous for. We return to the hotel in time for dinner.

After our Scottish breakfast we have a relaxed morning and head to the famous Rosslyn Chapel which was founded in 1446 as a place of worship and services continue to be held here weekly. The Chapel has been a popular destination for visitors for generations. By the late 18th-century, it was starting to appear on itineraries and its profile greatly increased after the publication of Dan Brown’s novel, The Da Vinci Code, in 2003, and the subsequent film.  Entrance to the chapel is included where one of the guides will give a short informative talk, then giving you free time to explore. There is a cafe on site where light refreshments can be purchased (not included). We then return to the hotel with some free time to relax before dinner this evening.

Enjoy your final Scottish breakfast at the Peebles Hydro then bid farewell to the hotel and staff as we leave to make our way back to Lancashire, where the door to door service will take you home with happy memories of your holiday.
