After our door to door service you join the coach and start your journey to Ludlow. We travel first to Bridgnorth, an interesting town split between hilltop and ground, with a Victorian funicular connecting the two levels. Here you will join one of Britain’s best loved railways the Severn Valley Railway with steam and diesel trains. A single ride is included – the train journey to Kidderminster takes just over an hour. You will then re join the coach and continue the journey to Ludlow to the Feathers Hotel, our home for the next 4 nights, where you can relax and have dinner.

Today after breakfast we cross the border into Herefordshire; we have a guide who will join us on board and they will help us follow the Black and White Village Trail, travelling via Mortimer’s Cross, scene of a historic battle, to Eardisland & Pembridge, Lyonshall & Weobley to the famous book town of Hay-on-Wye for a visit before returning to Ludlow in time for this evenings dinner.

After breakfast you have a free day today where you have time to explore Ludlow and the general local market. Ludlow has held street markets since the 12th century. Nowadays, a traditional open-air market, managed by Ludlow Town Council, takes place in the town square. More than forty stalls selling a range of goods including fresh produce, cheeses, books and a selection of local crafts. Don’t forget to return to the hotel in time for dinner tonight.

This morning after a leisurely breakfast we will travel to the historic city of Hereford. The cathedral houses the famous Mappa Mundi – the oldest known map in the world. Hereford city centre is a delight to wander around whether it be for shopping or just to see the sights. We return to the hotel in time for dinner.

Sadly after breakfast we have to leave Ludlow and the Feathers hotel. We first have a short drive to the Ludlow Food Centre where a talk will be given and a tasting of some of the local produce. We then start our journey back to Lancashire with comfort stops en route. The door to door service will be waiting to take you to your front door.

Situated at the heart of this ancient market town, The Feathers is a unique 17th century Coaching Inn, with shops and a wealth of historic buildings all within easy access. The restaurant uses locally sourced produce where possible to serve delicious meals and there is also a well stocked bar and cosy lounges where you can relax. All rooms are en suite with both bath and shower, flat screen TV, tea/coffee making facilities and there is free WiFi throughout the building. There is a lift, but a number of bedrooms do have steps en route from the lift.
