CURRENT VACANCIES:

*UPSKILLING PROGRAMME -CAR MECHANICS. (SEMI-SKILLED BUS & COACH ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN) - Farnworth (BL4) or Chorley (PR6)

Salary £25k per annum rising to £30k-£35k on completion of training*

Are you an experienced car or light vehicle mechanic looking for a new challenge and greater earning potential? We're offering a unique opportunity to join our in-house engineering team and put your existing skills to great use by up-skilling as a PCV Engineer. We will put you through the necessary training on full pay, including accredited qualifications such as IRTEC.

We have a unique opportunity for ambitious, experienced car and light vehicle mechanics to join the company’s engineering department as a Semi-Skilled Bus and Coach Engineering Technician, working through an Up-skilling Programme to develop the skills needed to work on our extensive fleet of buses and coaches.

This excellent opportunity is aimed at experienced motor mechanics looking for a new challenge and greater earning potential and those interested in taking their existing skills to the next level and forging a career within the bus and coach sector, in particular within a thriving and well-established family-owned operation with 50 years industry experience.

We have positions available at our Bolton (BL4) and Chorley (PR6) depots.

The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate:

  • Ability to work methodically and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • A good level of IT literacy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail when carrying out tasks
  • Demonstrable track record working as a mechanic on cars and/or light vehicles
  • Willingness to work towards obtain a PCV driving licence when eligible( via our in-house driver academy)
  • A genuine interest and enthusiasm towards heavy vehicle maintenance
  • Reliability and excellent time-keeping

Key areas of responsibility for the role:

  • Conducting 6-week inspections of vehicles to specified standards
  • Diagnosing faults using latest diagnostic equipment
  • Completing effective mechanical repairs
  • Completing all relevant documentation to a high standard
  • Preparation of vehicles for MOT
  • Completing accurate records and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Removing and replacing faulty/damaged parts
  • Repair of body and panel components
  • Fitting and servicing parts
  • Safe operation of specialist tools and testing/lifting equipment
  • Assisting with repair/recovery of defective vehicles off-site
  • Other related activities as operationally required

  • 40 hours per week, daytime shifts only Mon-Fri (7.30 - 16.00 )
  • 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays)

Salary £30k-£35k per annum*

Tyrers Coaches has some exciting opportunities for ambitious and experienced individuals to join the company’s engineering department. You will ensure that the vehicle fleet is well maintained and presented.

The successful candidates will either hold the appropriate engineering qualifications or have proven experience in maintaining PCV or HGV vehicles.

We have positions available at our Farnworth depot.

Key skills required:

  • Appropriate engineering qualifications
  • Proven engineering experience
  • IT literate
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Able to obtain a PCV licence (via our PCV driving academy)

Key area of responsibility:

  • 6 week inspections of vehicles to specified standards
  • Diagnosing faults using latest diagnostic equipment
  • Completing effective mechanical repairs
  • Completing all relevant documentation to a high standard
  • MOT preparation
  • Regulatory compliance

In return we offer:

  • An attractive salary & overtime rate along with a company pension
  • 40 hours per week, daytime shifts only Mon-Fri (7.30 - 16.00 )
  • After a qualifying period you will be asked to work “on call” weekends, which is one in seven weekends. Meaning you will be on call Saturday and Sunday and if any mechanical issues arise it would be your responsibility to go into work to address them
  • 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays) 
  • Sick pay
  • Provide training courses such as IRTEC
