Engineering 30/09/2020

Here at Tyrers we take safety very seriously. Our buses are maintained to the highest standard, with every vehicle having an inspection every 35 days and a brake test every five weeks. We have a dedicated team of engineers at each of our depots who are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in the unlikely event that we have any breakdowns. Recently we took delivery of brand new column lifts and a mobile brake tester from Totalkare. Not only are we benefitting from increased fleet availability but we are also saving both time and money. With no longer having to visit external test centres and with our fleet of 122 vehicles, we should see a return on our capital investment, with projected cost savings of £100,000 within 5 years.
Not only do our engineers have the best equipment but they are all very experienced and focused on being as qualified as possible, all our engineers are IRTEC trained. Jamie who has been with us for around 4 years has taken his IRTEC recently and has passed with flying colours.
We currently have two apprentices, Freddie and Jake. Freddie is a 1st year apprentice who has recently passed his NVQ Level 1 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance. Jake is in his third and final year and will become fully fledged very soon.
